The VNIIS Story

VNIIS was founded on April 15, 1965.

For 45 years VNIIS is active in the area of scientific and methodological developments for standardization, certification, accreditation and quality management. We have also provided consultation services in the areas of our expertise from the very beginning of our operations. Our research results were effectively applied to the practical problems of Russian economy and our achievements were honored by the Russian government. Our Institute was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, a prestigious Russian award of the 20th century.

On March 19, 1992, VNIIS was reorganized as the Russian Research Institute for Certification. In July 2004, the Institute was incorporated under a name “The Russian Research Institute for Certification”, JSC (VNIIS, JSC).

VNIIS formulates methodological and organizational principles of products and services conformity assessment, accreditation, and quality management in Russia. Our highly professional staff contributed to the major Russian Federal Acts such as “The Consumer Protection Act”, “Certification of Products and Services Act “, “Technical Regulation Act”, and “GOST-R Certification System”. We are also involved in harmonization of the Russian certification and conformity assessment practices with the international standards.
